Hide it under a bushel, no

The fact that your particular talent might not be traditionally performed within the context of a pageant is perhaps all the more reason to bring it.

Even if it isn't clear to the audience for the first two and a half minutes what your talent actually is.

I wonder if her sensei opened for Weird Al Yankovic in '85 at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz. I seem to recall a similar act, although made less of a splash as no one in the place (mostly white guys under the age of 25) recognized the final portrait. It was either Jimi Hendrix or Jerry Garcia. The fact that I can't tell you now speaks volumes about the quality of the final image.
